This Avian Sun 5.0 Compact Fluorescent Lamp 26W by Zoo Med, is the pet bird version of the Repti-Sun range of compact Fluorescent Lamps, and is designed to provide birds with adequate levels of UVB and UVA rays which will benefit the health of your aviary.

The Avian Sun 5.0 Compact Fluorescent Lamp is intended to be used in conjunction with Zoo Med's Avian Sun Deluxe Floor Lamp, as this provides the correct lamp fixture.

This combination is the best way to get the most out of the Avian Sun 5.0 Compact Fluorescent Lamp. The Lamp provides a full spectrum of light, and creates 5 per cent UVB to 30 per Cent UVA Output.

UVB enables birds to synthesize vitamin D3 for proper calcium metabolism which is necessary for normal bird growth, maintenance of strong bones, and egg production.

UVA is visible to birds, enabling them to recognize mates, locate food, and identify different species. Without UVA, birds are essentially colorblind!

A: These lamps need specific line voltages; thy cannot be used with dimmers/rheostats.
