• I chose this cage after lots of researching online. There were similar ones where the tray could be pulled out without opening the door, however I read that ferrets had escaped from this type before. The Liberta cage is very well made and ideal for keeping ferrets in. It also comes on wheels so you can move it out to clean very easily.

• this cage does come in 2 boxes. It looks like alot of items to put together, but it is not. It is easier if 2 of you can put the cage together but my husband did it himself. Our cage now houses 10 rats. The reason i went for this cage is that i love the doors opening on it. It not them silly small doors but proper doors. Plus it is easy to clean out. The reason i only give this for the 4 stars is the one or two things let it down. It would be better with metal trays and for them to be a bit taller. After a day of having this cage i found the cat litter all on the floor and the rats had already started to chews holes in the tray. We had this for a few weeks now and 2 of the corners in the bottom tray are not longer there. We are now going to get metal trays made. Also the doors rattling when the rats climb on them. Instead of putting the small swivel catch on the top of one door they should put the top and bottom of all of them. To stop this from happening and for the cat litter from getting stuck inbetween the doors and tray. Also instead of using bulldog clips to hold the plastic on the shelving they could have some sort of clip system built into the shelf where you place the plastic in and then clip it into place. Overall apart from these small things I love this cage we had one or two before this and this is the best.

• Q. Would this cage be suitable for 4 8-week old rats? Also does it come with two trays. How easy is it to construct - I am a mum!
  A. HI Mrs Hammerson,

  This cage is relativity easy to build. This cage is great for rats, but to ensure that it's ok for some as young as yours please check the bar spacing, 1.5 cm is close enough that the young rats can't fit there heads though. It should be ok, but I would check with the breeder you got the rats from. In regards to the tray, it doesn't come with pull out trays.

  Yes, covering the hole between the cages will seperate them into 2 cages. Although I would recommend attaching a tray over the hole rather than the ladders.
